LAWS OF MOTION

 

(1)  Prove newton’s third law for a system of two connected spring balance suspended vertically by different weights

(2)  Write different examples from daily life showing that force always exists in pair?

(3)  Collect examples of daily life indicating impulsive force and what measures are taken to minimize its loses.

(4)  Apply an impulsive force by a compressed spring on balls of different masses and observe

(a)  Velocity gained

(b)  Distance covered by them.

Write conclusion on the basis of different forces acting on them.

(5)  Determine the percentage loss in energy when a tennis ball is dropped on different types(nature) of floor

(6)  Prepare a model of water jet showing effect on angle of projection on range.

(7)  By an experiment prove that a ball thrown horizontally and other one dropped posses same time of flight.

WORK, POWER AND ENERGY

 

(1)  Plot a graph showing variation of K.E., Potential energy and total energy with position in a simple pendulum displaced side- ways to a certain distance (with measured value of x)

(2)  Collect the data for energy transformation in different process

(3)  With the help of trolley and thread system proves work – energy theorem.

SYSTEM OF PARTICLES AND ROTATIONAL MOTION

What to perform?

1. On what factors does moment of Inertia depend?

a. Take a rotating disc

b.   Put wax on different locations.

c.    Find the change in rotational velocity.

2. What is centre of gravity?

a.    Paste the map of India on a card board.

b.   Make the outline of map of the India on the card board.

c.    Cut the card board in the shape of map of India.

Locate the centre of gravity. Name that place where it exits.

GRAVITATION

 

(1)  Note down the time period and radius of orbits of planets of solar system from internet and verify the Kepler’s third law.

PROPERTIES OF MATTER

What to perform?

To study linear expansion of different metal strip.

Explanation- Take two or three metal strips of different material of equal length. Heat the metal strip of equal and observe the expansion in the strip length.

a.    What conclusion can drawn from the experiment?

b.   Which metal has more expansion

c.    If the area of cross-section of metal strip is increased and how does the expansion may be effected? Explain.

2. a. Take the metal strip made of iron, aluminum, and copper heat for same time& find the rise in temperature for each sample.

 b) State which metal have the highest specific heat.

 

 

 

What to perform?

To study the concept of viscosity.

Explanation- Take liquid of different type and allow them to flow in the surface, measure the time of flow of different liquid to cover certain distance. Calculate the velocity of flow of liquid.

 

a.    Does the flow depend on density of liquid?

b.   What is reason for different speed of flow in the surface? Explain.

c.    How does it depend on the surface area?

What to perform?

To study the diffusion of different gases.

Explanation- Take different sources of smoke like from candle, smoke from agarbati, smoke from burning of coal and measure the how much time they take to diffuse.

a.    Which of gas diffuse faster? What conclusion can be drawn about it?

b.   Which principle it is based on?
